Victorian Villa

An expansive, rear extension has been added to this Victorian villa in South London. Steel-framed crittal-style glazing spans the width, flooding the space with light and brings together the kitchen, pantry, dining area and bar within one generous room.

Whilst the extension itself is contemporary, we have designed the furniture reflectively of the character of the original Victorian house.

Handpainted kitchen cabinets reflect this period setting, while the island has been intentionally designed as a freestanding piece of furniture to give it presence within the room. An architectural canopy frames the cooking area, with Lacanche range oven below with a traditional tiled backdrop. A walk-in pantry sits discreetly behind a sliding door, ensuring the main kitchen space can remain uncluttered.

A standalone bar sits comfortably within the room as a place for drinks storage, preparation and guest entertaining, allowing the kitchen to shift from everyday use to informal gatherings. Handpainted cabinetry is lined with antique silver leaf mirror with glass shelving to display bottles with integrated wine and drinks refrigeration and a generous bar top in Pietra Santa Fiora sandstone.
