This multi-functional space was devised around our client’s desire to have a functional kitchen space, a sociable and formal entertaining area for up to ten people, as well as make best of the morning sun that flooded the kitchen. Coupled with this our plans for the design had to work around an immovable structural post, as well as an existing Rayburn range.
The space plan created accommodates a breakfast table with bench seating, which takes advantage of the morning sun and the view into the garden, a large dining area and a kitchen island has been formed around the awkward post and has been encased in a pinboard material and lights. We have recreated the arch over the existing Rayburn, building it out to marry up with architectural shapes featuring in the building.
The kitchen is in a hand painted finish with Italian black basalt worktops. The furniture carries ironmongery designed by Joel Bugg.
