This recently renovated farmhouse hosts enviable views and none so more as from the kitchen itself. With natural light flooding in from glazed doors we’ve used a palette of different natural materials and colour in this kitchen to really let it shine. The design includes a table island, Everhot range and sink run and a freestanding fridge/larder cupboard. Mindful of its environment and the character of the farmhouse’s history, our design is characteristic and reflective of a simple, country style with clean lines and minimal detailing. We’ve used honed dark granite worktops to mimic Welsh slate of the area.
The table island has been produced in quarter-sawn Oak with carefully selected wide boards for its top and is 3.2 metres in length. It works to both accommodate the cook in food preparation and at its open end, four diners. It has plenty of storage with a pot board base, deep crockery drawers and double tier cutlery drawers with delicate bespoke drop pull handles hand-finished in brass.
At the end of the island in vivid contrast is a larder/fridge cupboard, which has been purposely designed to look like a freestanding piece of furniture. This bold choice of colour works fantastically to mix against the natural materials of the Oak and honed dark granite. (Larder cupboard hand painted in Paint & Paper Library ‘Muga’.)
The run of base and wall cabinets are in a hand-painted finish and adorned with aged brass cup handles and knobs. This run includes an Everhot range with a discreet built-in extraction unit above, pan and utensil drawers, waste bins and dishwasher.
